The guesthouse Zur goldenen Stiege has a long tradition. The front panel next to the entrance with the coat of arms of our house is the evidence. The greeting from long bygone times is: “Michael Pürckhel, Khürch Her, has bought this house with his own money and rebuilt it. Anno Domini 1060.”
Since then, the building has always been a tavern. 1780 it got its final name “Zur goldenen Stiege”, as there were at that time only “Stiegen” (footpathes) instead of streets.
As of 1907, the guesthouse is owned by the Bernhofer family. The coat of arms is described as follows: “The Bernhofers are an old, respected gender and come originally from Styria where the same were resident already in 1375, through several generations.”
Our proximity to Salzburg, the Holztechnikum and the business park Brennhoflehen offers you as our guests the convenience of short and fast ways.
You can reach Salzburg with the S3 rail track of the S-Bahn (suburban railway) from Kuchl in less than 40 minutes. When the Schlechtwettersperre for Salzburg comes into force you travel by train without stress to the city center.
Kuchl’s trainstation is within walking distance of our guesthouse. Timetable information is available here.
Our guests can go to Salzburg by train with the Tennengau-Ticket for a very reasonably price – for € 2 only (children € 0,50).
